I finally had the opportunity to listen to the mastered track on a good monitoring system, thus confirming my initial impression on my car stereo that it sounds fantastic.  
The low end is much tighter and the guitars have a definite edge that does wonders for the tune. Very impressive.

I listened to the mastered version a few times, and I can see that it's much better now.It's not totally slammed into the ceiling or very gritty/bright...and the low end is clear and tight.
