Alex Wordsworth

One of the UK's up and coming young mastering engineers, Alex was immersed in music from an early age. Growing up in the rich musical tapestry of 1990s UK introduced Alex to a huge range of musical influences, and encouraged him to make his own productions. Inspired by American grunge, Britpop and the productions of artists like DJ Shadow & Portishead, Alex started in his early teens with a lowly Tascam cassette 4 track, and eventually became a self-taught multi-instrumentalist with a superb musical ear.

In 2004, Alex landed the job of Assistant Engineer at Soundmasters and has since worked alongside some of the best in the business, including The Cure, Taio Cruz, Wiley, Queen, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Roots Manuva and The White Stripes. Under the watchful eye of veteran engineer Kevin Metcalfe, Alex developed his skills in the studio in typically hands-on fashion, and quickly became a talented engineer in his own right.

In August 2004 Alex helped set up eMasters, the UK's first online mastering service to be provided by a major studio. The massive variety between each project has been instrumental in making Alex the versatile engineer he is today, being able to cope with completely different music from one day to the next.

As one of very few mastering engineers in the UK who has had the opportunity to work with such a broad range of clients in such a short space of time, Alex offers his projects a fresh set of ears and always produces great sounding mastering that suits each project perfectly, whatever the style.
